Lists of test drive trips are plentiful and quite long. Which lists do you follow? Which test drive tips are best? There are no wrong or right answers, nor hard and fast rules. Luckily, there are test drive tips that frequently reappear on these types of lists. Our Sebring, FL Alan Jay Cadillac team selected some of those tips for your info.

Research Your Interests

Make a list of the cars you fancy. Research them via manufacturers' websites and the websites of automotive industry resources that review cars. Restrict your test-drive list to three or four cars. If possible, schedule your test drives back-to-back and, preferably, at different dealerships. This way, you can make a very timely exit in the event of a zealous salesperson. Back-to-back test drives also keep the cars' looks, vibes, and performances fresh in your memory.

Make an Appointment

Dealership inventory often extends over multiple lots, some of them miles away. Even new cars that sit for a minute have to be spruced up before the test drive to ensure a good first impression. Salespeople sometimes have to move other cars on the lot out of the way to get to the one you want to test drive. Planning ahead and making an appointment gives you and the salesperson time to prepare for a timely, efficient meeting.
